The All-Party Parliamentary Loan Charge and Taxpayer Fairness Group (APPG) has launched a call for evidence from advisers with clients affected by the loan charge.

The APPG is a cross-party group of MPs concerned about the Disguised Remuneration Loan Charge and taxpayer fairness. This is the second stage of their call for evidence. The first stage in March 2022 asked individuals affected by the charge to respond. Those responses have already been shared with HM Treasury and published online, with taxpayers talking about anxiety, and physical and mental health issues as a result of the charge being implemented. 15% of those who responded reported suicidal thoughts or intent.

This next stage asks professional advisers such as accountants, tax advisers and solicitors to submit evidence to enable the APPG to establish the reality of the current position for both those still facing the Loan Charge and those who faced it previously and reached a settlement with HMRC to avoid it. The questionnaire asks about the experiences that advisers and their clients have had in dealing with HMRC over the loan charge.

The deadline for submissions is 15 July 2022. The form should be emailed toThis email address is being protected from spambots.
