The Welsh government has announced that the Food and Drink Festivals and Events Fund 2024 is now open for applicants. The small grant scheme aims to support festivals and events that enhance the Welsh food and drink industry. Successful applicants could secure funding of up to £15,000.

The fund aims to unite various sectors including Agriculture, food processing, tourism destinations, the food service industry, food festivals and Food retail outlets to capitalise on the economic advantages of offering visitors a distinctive cultural experience. 

The objectives of the small grant scheme are to:

  • Enhance visitor access to and awareness of Welsh Food and Drink.
  • Encourage Welsh hospitality businesses to prioritise sourcing local food and drink.
  • Increase the presence of Welsh Food and Drink on menus and in retail offerings.

Successful applicants may receive grants ranging from £2,500 (minimum) to £15,000 (maximum). 

The fund welcomes applications from a variety of applicants, as outlined in the Scheme Application Guidelines.

Applicants must:

  • Demonstrate how their festival/event addresses the 10 key actions of the Vision and how they will enhance opportunities and awareness of Welsh food and Drink producers.
  • Deliver outcomes between 1 May 2024 and 31 March 2025. 
  • Submit applications between 1 May 2024 and 7 June 2024.
  • Provide a post-award evaluation report to the Welsh government, detailing the impact of the project/event on the Welsh food and drink industry.
