2015/2016 I paid tax on PPI refund.
The deadline was 5 April 2020 to claim the tax back, which I did on the 4th April 2020 via Gateway on the internet. They sent the form back to me on the 16th April 2020 with a covering letter asking for more information from Nationwide re the tax they stopped, (the D40 form did not have a question re what tax was paid)

Because of the lockdown Nationwide have only just supplied the information that they needed.

Now the Inland Revenue say 'via phone conversation from a HMR employee working from home that I'm too late to claim the tax back. Even though they received the D40 on 4the April 2020 at 2.34pm.

My question is, 'the fact that I lodged claim on time via internet mean that the claim should be still honoured'

Many Thanks for you help with this matter.
