Important deadlines are approaching in relation to the government’s key COVID-19 support schemes.

  • Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS): The scheme closes on 31 October 2020. The last day on which claims can be submitted for periods ending on or before 31 October is 20 November 2020.

Where a business believes they have overclaimed a grant or received a grant which they were not entitled to, HMRC must be notified of this in accordance with Paragraph 12, Schedule 16 of Finance Act 2020:

  • On or before 20 October 2020, if the grant was received before 22 July 2020.
  • Within 90 days if the grant was received on or after 22 July 2020.

Failure to notify HMRC may result in a penalty.
