TaxAid

  • A unique opportunity has arisen at TaxAid for a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser to take a leading role in the development of the tax services needed by vulnerable taxpayers. As the manager of a small tax team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the team that you will lead. This includes oversight of the management of the helpline and our volunteers and for managing the quality of the advice provided in order to ensure accuracy and consistency. 
  • This highly variable role will be interesting and challenging, giving you the opportunity to shape it and make it your own. You will be the natural deputy for the Advice Director and you will work together in developing and enhancing the relationships with our key stakeholders including HMRC and other tax professionals. 
  • The ability to work as part of the advice team as well as being a self-starter will be key. 
  • Your expertise will be in personal taxation, however are also looking for working knowledge of corporation tax issues, and PAYE as well as broad knowledge of the tax system as it is administered to those on modest incomes.
  • The charity is at an exciting time in its development, as it looks to put in place a new IT platform that will enhance its ability to help more people as part of its new Advice and Volunteering models. You will need to be adaptable, flexible in your approach, and acceptable of change, motivated and proactive. 
  • Proposed working hours are 09.00am – 5.00pm, 5 days a week. Salary £50-£53k subject to experience.

Tax Help for Older People

If you are a Personal Tax Senior and ATT qualified or above and looking for a new challenge then why not consider joining the charity Tax Help for Older People.

  • Tax Help are based in Salway Ash just outside Bridport in Dorset but the role has flexibility and can also be based in London (Kennington) with regular travel between the two sites.
  • Whereever you are based you will be a key part of the charity in dealing with older and low income clients who contact us, as well as being the go to tax expert for staff in dealing with those out of the ordinary problems.
  • As part of the management team, you will deal with clients on a daily basis as well as using your expertise to develop and deliver training, writing and producing technical tax information booklets, guides and training notes as well as being responsible for the tax content on our website.
  • This is a highly variable role, one that you can help shape and develop yourself whilst being challenging.
  • The ability to work as part of the advice team as well as being a self-starter will be key. The role will also include you acting on behalf of the charity in our regular meetings with HMRC and other stakeholders, which will require a flexible approach to working.
  • The charity is at an exciting time in its development, as it looks to put in place a new IT platform and call handling system that will enhance its ability to help more people as part of its new Advice and Volunteering models.
  • You will need to be adaptable and flexible in your approach and acceptable of change, motivated and proactive.
  • Proposed working hours are Monday to Friday 09.00am – 5.00pm, Salary £35-£40k subject to experience.
