HMRC say that its bank - Santander is having problems with its Bill Pay service. This means that that customers cannot use a credit card or debit card to pay their tax.  The parties are working to resolve of the problem.

This problem does not affect Santander customers who can using online banking to pay.

The other ways you can pay HMRC which are:

Online. HMRC's account details are:

  • If you are using a UK bank account: sort code 08 32 10, account no:12001020, name HMRC Shipley.
  • If you are using a non-UK bank account: International Bank Account Number (IBAN) GB05CITI08321012001020, SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (BIC) CITIGB2L, name HMRC Shipley.

You need to add your 10 digit UTR as a reference

Alternatively you can pay

A spokesman for HMRC says that your payment is late because of the problems Santander is experiencing you will not have to pay a penalty or interest for late payment.
